Microsoft announced today a price drop for its Xbox 360 family of consoles in the U.K., Europe and the Middle East.

Yesterday’s rumor of Xbox 360 Premium and Cores getting HDMI functionality was partially true as Microsoft today confirmed that the Premium will get a builtin HDMI port. Currently, there are no plans to add HDMI to the Core.

According to the rumor, Microsoft will quietly launch a revision of the Xbox 360 Core and Premium hardware that will use the new 65nm CPU, a quieter DVD drive and also include the builtin HDMI port seen in the Elite.

Microsoft has just announced it will reduce the retail price of all Xbox 360 systems beginning August 8 at U.S. retailers nationwide.
